So I go to Toronto, Canada for three days. When I arrived on Wednesday, I went to Hertz to pick up my rental car. On the website I had requested a Grand-Am or Sunfire or something similar (2-Door) for the price.
I didn't really bother to check the paperwork to see what they had given me. I go out to get the keys from the kiosk and the guy says here, #97.... I go to slot #97 and low and behold, a 2005 Mustang GT Convertible sat there. I thought "no way". Clicked the lock button on the fob. Sure 'nuff... this baby is mine.
27xxx Km on her. Drop the top, load the bags and hit the road...
Nice Shaker 500 sound system with 6-disk changer and MP3 capability. Throaty V-8. Could definately use on of these. But the problem I had was the location/size of the brake pedal. After three days of driving my knee hurt badly from the twisting to hit the brake (which you do a lot ion Toronto/Mississagua traffic.
Wasn't entirely impressed with the "petrol kilometrage" (gas milage??) as it got 280km/49 litres (5.7 L/Km, 180 miles/10.9 gallons --> 16.5 mpg). Course, it was a rental... and it was a Mustang GT... and I have a heavy foot when I can use it.... whoopie!! Not horrible, but with consistant driving could definately do better.
The biggest problem I had was that I could never find enough open road to get above 100km/hr... I was able to go faster in my ST comming back fromt he airport than I did in the GT....
Driving in Toronto is like driving in Chicago, without the organization (in other words, it really sucks).
