List: Will removing the Negitive battery cable for 15 minutes remove ALL stored diagnostic codes? My wifes 02 has a CEL which AutoZone found to be the Px401 code. I want to "clear" ALL codes and run it again to double check but I need to know if disconnecting the battery will clear everything. How long does it take for a code to light up the check engine light? Ive heard xxx starts cycles. Or is it when a sensor goes bad the CEL comes on right away?

I think it will be the DPFE sensor and before I return to the dealer for the "free" DPFE replacement (53k on car) I want to have my ducks in a row.

Any idea about the "letter" FOMOCO sent to owners about the extended warranty (to 60k)? I dont remember getting one and would like to have a copy in hand.

Its a shame car owners have to "research" this kind of stuff when dealing with dealers The wife has always taken the car to the dealer for maintenance etc. You would think they would bend over backwards to inform owners of these "problems"

She has the front tire "cupping" problem which she had brought to their attention. Like others here on this board she got the "party line" rotate tires get an alignment etc. Im changing shocks this pm and getting new tires and a "lifetime" alignment.

RANT off,

Lester

That battery trick should do it, But the auto zone scanner can also clear the codes for you...

also the DPFE sensor is about 35 bucks and takes 30 seconds to change... May just want to do it your self..

Not all ST'S are covered in the extended warranty, and i believe that was only for the EGR valve not the sensor...
