So today I need to drive down to Elk Grove on Hwy 99. Not one of my favorite things to do, as 99 is usually crowded, with a lot of people driving SLOW in the left lane. Heavy traffic due to the Sheriff's office having someone pulled over greeted me for the first couple of miles... Traffic starts to move better after passing the incident, and soon we're moving along at 75 mph in the left lane. Not bad... I look in the rearview mirror, and see a silver car darting through traffic. Look again, and he's coming up on me doing @ 100/120 mph... gets on my rear bumper. I can't change lanes, and there's someone in front of me. So I tap the brakes and kick off the cruise control, and to let him know to back off slightly. If you know me, you know I like to go fast in the left lane, so I'm NOT trying to slow this guy down, I just have nowhere to go at the moment... He stays ON MY BUMPER, so I brake check him again. This time he hits the brakes, swerves, and moves onto the left shoulder to PASS ME. As the car goes by, I see it's got 5 or 6 black youths inside. They flip me off as they pass, and I tell 'em that I think they're #1 too. As I look down for my headset to call their license plate into CHP, I see their car move into my lane. Then he brake checks me.... Too late! I punted him! He was in a new car, as least new to him, as it didn't even have plates on it. Well, it WAS new... The entire rear end came apart! I believe it was an Infinity. At least the paper license plate said 'Sacramento Infinity' Taillights, rear bumper, side panel, all gone. We pull off, he pulls into one lot, me into another. I get out and look at the ST. I'm missing my front license plate. That's it! Damage was quite minimal... I'm already on the phone to the CHP operator, who answer all cell 911 calls. The guy pulls up, gets out, and starts with "So, you like to play games???? I hope you got insurance!!!" The operator's asking where I'm located, and I don't quite know... So I ask the guy, "Where are we? What exit is this?" He tells me, I tell the operator, and ask how soon they can have a unit there. The guy jumps back into his car, and takes off!!!! I'm like "Wow!"... So I tell the dispatcher that he's taking off, and he wants to know if I want to pursue it. "Why? All I need is a new plate! I'll go to DMV and get a new one. He's the one with the damage..." Last week I saw a hit & run on the freeway and the driver took off. She took out 2 cars on the freeway and left. I followed and got the driver's license plate to call it in to CHP. It's like Crazytown around here.
