My 2003 Sport Trac has been in long term storage over the last year. I left it with about 27000 miles on the odometer and a little under a quarter tank of gas (with some preservative added)...what should I plan on doing to get it back into regular driving shape once I get it out of the storage facility? It was stored under government contract in a climate controled warehouse. The contractors were required to check tire pressure and battery charge on a monthly basis. Other than that, it has just sat there the entire time I've been gone. Any suggestions???...thanks in advance...Eddie

Change oil and filter, and check/fill all fluid levels and tires immediately. Fill tank with good fuel. Drive a couple of tanks of gas through it, with a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the second tank full. Change fuel filter.

Enjoy your trac again!

I thought I heard somewhere that you should turn the pulley on the water pump manually a bit before actually starting the engine, not sure if that's even possible.

If stored like you stated and tires/battery were checked, I'd just gas it up and drive. Plan on doing an oil change within a few days just to get any contaminants out of the crankcase.

It is a Ford. Put the key in the ignition and start it up. Take it out on the highway for about 30 miles and come back home.

You may need to charge the battery. Besides that, just start it and drive it.

Schizophrenic Me, up to your tricks again I see. Yeah man, just check it out and drive like Caymen said, it's a Ford. I've seen car's sit for 10 years and a battery and some gas are all they need.
