I have an OEM tonneau cover that I need to remove the lock cylinder to re-keying to the ignition key. Is there any instruction any where on how to remove it I don’t want to take any chances breaking the cable that attached to the bottom of the cylinder?

Thanks

I have always had a fairly strong grip, but I could not remove the cable assembly off the lock cylinder by hand. I eventually resorted to using a 12" pair of Channel-Lock pliers to get enough of a grip to turn the plastic sleeve on the cable assembly and then it just pulls off.

John,

All Sport Trac tonneau covers use those "U" shaped clips to hold the lock cylinder in place. But without removing the cable assembly, you cannot pull the lock cylinder out of the top, even with the clip removed. Most of the clips will just fall out, it's getting the cable assembly off the bottom of the lock cylinder is the hard part.:D
