Okay so there is a little metal tab that holds the lock into the tonneau cover and mine was very loose. :blink:It fell off a couple of times and I tried bending it to make it fit right again but it eventually fell out and now it's gone.:( anyone have any idea where I can get this?

Thanks

If I buy from my local dealer I pay like $7.50, and if I order from Rusty I pay $9.95?

At least that is what I understand from the above post.

If the item is more expensive I would definitely buy from Rusty, since the discount will be enough to offset the shipping compared to local dealer price plus tax, but in this case I think it just makes more sense to buy it locally... Just my 2cts.

The new clip is a bit different, as it now has two little tabs that help retain the clip (seems redundant, I know). From my experience, the new clip is not as tight as the old and the lock is a bit loose, but the clip won't fall out, nor will the lock. I bent the clip, so that the lock is held securely.

jlevin75: I 've had to re-bend the same pieces on my tonneau a couple times and almost lost one. Fortunately, I found it lying in the driveway. Poor design, IMO, on an otherwise excellent cover.

Those big spring steel "C" clips are commonly used on many vehicles to hold lock cylinders in place. Take the other one off the other tonneau cover lock and measure the distance between the two blades. It's probably about 3/4".

If you got to the "Help" parts an most well stocked auto parts stores, you can probably find some.

i also had my rear "C" clip fall out a few times and I bent it into a more severe arch and reinstalled it and 5 years later it has never fallen out again.
