I came across a great deal on a hard tonneau cover. The only problem is that the local dealer does not sell replacement locks. As we know the locks are keyed to the ignition. Has anyone ever had one of these locks rekeyed or replaced?

I was told that a new key could be made cheaply if you had the computer code for the key, but since I didn't, I had the locks re-keyed for my key for $20 each.........doug

You can use a standard ol Ford key for the cover. The chip in the key has nothing to do with the cover.

So a locksmith is probably the best way to go.

Is this a Ford factory cover? If so you can get the lock kits from the dealer to change the "tumblers" or you can have a locksmith do it.

I just installed a Ford cover which I ordered from the dealer. It was pretty easy to do the tumbler build. One thing you will need to do is get the lock off of the plastic housing. This is a pain (I accidently installed it too soon). I ended up having to cut the the plastic weld and then once I got the lock mechanism back in expoxying the plastic back together.
