I know, A lot of questions here but I promise just one more before I sign off till tonight.

I am about to embark on one of my least favorite things to do to vehicles. Change to Trans filter. Thought about having someone do it for me but my lack of trust in service (quicklube) just won't let me do it. So it's up to me. Now I'm no cherry at it for I have done every vehicle I've owned but this is the first time with the ST. Anything I need to know, look for and adjust when I do it? I've never adjusted "bands" or anything but not afraid to get my hands in there. Also, any problems I need to watch out for (IE: hard bolts to get out/ find)? I have checked three places and they are Advance Auto, Napa, and of course Ford. Ford being the most expensive but am looking to save some money. Anyone use filters from any of the other places and are they good? Thanks in advance for any responses.;)

Stone,

Pull the pan like you always did, drain the fluid, pull the filter (Some people prefer to call it a screen, but the media in the filter is called a filtron filter...go figure) put new one on, put pan back up and fill. There is nothing to adjust. Make sure you clean the magnet. It gets a bunch of crud on it.

I do recomend you install a tranny plug. That way, you can pull the plug, drain, replace plug, fill, run a while, pull the plug, drain, replace plug, fill, run a while, pull the plug, drain, replace plug, pull pan, replace filter, clean magnet (It will be covered with 3/8 think crud on it), put pan back on, fill, and be finished.

The only issue is ( The kit i got from ford) Is they give you a new bolt, Make sure if the kit you get, IF it has a new filter bolt, That you measure the bolts, DO not use the wrong one..

As far as adjustment, there is nothing in the st tranny to adjust.. You can do the bands, but that is not needed..

As tom said, it is straight forward as the rest you did.. The gasket is reusable, BUT i do not like doing that and do replace them.... And you know not to overt tighten the bolts..:)

The drain plug is a great idea... I simply replaced the whole pan..

You can do the EPC pressure adjustment, But if your uncomfortable with that sort of thing, Just do the filter..

Good luck
