Gen 2 covers are finned aluminum with a drain plug. If you can find a junkyard that will part with a Gen 2 Sport Trac/Gen 3 Explorer rear diff cover off the IRS axle (like maybe if the axle was damaged), you can cut or grind off the mounting ears because they are not needed on a Gen 1 Trac, and it will bolt right up. Otherwise Summit or Jeg's or whoever will have aftermarket 8.8" covers with a drain plug.
Has anyone purchased an RPC Transmission Pan from JC Whitney for their ST? They show two different ones on their website, one is steel chromed #10995G, the other is cast aluminum #10989G.
According to the photos provided, I would say they don't fit the ST transmission at all! According to RPC's website, there's no pan for an ST.
I tried searching 5R55E with not much success. Everything comes back as the aluminum pan that ToddZ has. This one is quite pricy and I don't need the extra fluid capability, don't do any towing or anything like that. I've also read that the deeper pan may not fit some applications because of the cross-beam and exhaust manifold.
I'll have another look at my ST and see if it resembles the 4R you mention. The pans that RPC have would be just what I'm looking for. Chromed with a plug incorporated. But no telephone contact to talk to a real human being on the other end if you know what I mean!:banghead:
As far as I know. I've seen some super-deep off-roading steel covers for Rangers that probably wouldn't clear the ST's rear swaybar but a normal 8.8" cover will fit.
