Was contemplating doing this using the transmission cooler procedure @ 61K.

Motorcraft Mercon V, filter and gasket parts alone totals $112. Going rate?

I'll drop the pan at home to turn the EPC and also add a B&M drain plug.

Any precautions re-using the fluid immediately after the Ford dealer service?

EDIT- Service completed 7/29 Tech used BG PF-5 Flush Machine.

2.5 hrs. 20 quarts Motorcraft Mercon V, screen filter, and gasket.

Excellent service, tech brought me in service bay for a quick crash course. Very pleased!

Should not be any problem as long as you catch the pan fluid in a clean vessel (not used for oil changes, etc)....No reason to replace the new fluid.

Thanks guys. May get ambitous and do Eddie's remote tranny filter project at the same time.

BTW, service manager told me they flush it twice. 2.5 hrs.

Steve,

After 5K miles the remote filter was dirty and heavier stuff in the bottom of the filter.

I recently changed it again after 5k miles It was fairly clean. Im going to let the next filter go 10K miles. Then cut it open. If it looks good. I will just include it in my 10K oil changes.

I recently got my oil lab report from blackstone. It came back with good numbers.

I have been running castrol full syn 10K miles, with filter change @ 5K.

The techs personalized report said, numbers good enough. I dont need a filter change @ 5k.

So I will use K&N or equivlent and full syn motor oil for 10K.

The report did suprise me. As Im a very spirited driver.

$199 for a full tranny fluid flush & filter replacement sounds like a great deal to me, especially where you are located in HI.
