Yesterday I noticed my sport trac had a slight list to the left side when viewing it from the back. I measured from the deck to the wheel arch on the drivers side and got 35" and 36" on the passengers side. I have an 03 XLT with the original shocks on it. Could this just be the shocks going bad?

Yep, the shocks are well past worn if their the originals.

As far as the "Ranger Lean" goes, it's because the gas tank is on the driver side and the driver is the one that's always in the truck so most the weight is on the driver side suspension. Left turns are harder and more common then right hand turns so you get the added force and weight on the driver side suspension as well, especially the driver front corner.

Anything is better the the stock shocks, you'll be amazed in the difference when you change them. When you get the new shocks installed you can crnk the driverside torision bar bolt up to level out the driver/ passenger side and get rid of the lean.

For sure replace the shocks. It doesn't have to be expensive and you should be able to replace them yourself. I put new ones from Autozone (Grabriel Ultra's) and put them on. You actually WILL be amazed, as I was. My truck appears to stand up a bit taller as well.

With a full tank. I adjusted the pasenger side down to match. When the tank is low the trac is is still mostly level. I did this after 1 1/2" lowering blocks in the rear.
