So I am driving home from my friends house in south central jersey, and I continue to hear a loud thumbing noise, I had heard it before, but it got much louder. As I pull onto 287 North, from 78 West, I look out my window and see my tire roll away. Due to the fact that I was pulling into the slow lane I stayed up on 3 wheels till i got to the shoulder, and then I fell down on to the rotor. It turns out the dealer who put my stock rims back on when I took my 20" rims off for the winter didn't tighten the lug nuts. I am currently waiting to hear back from PARAMUS FORD, to see how they will be compensating me. The tow truck driver also broke both of my undertruck light systems (LEDs and strobes). damn am i pissed. I will post pics later

Steve,

Had that happen to me when I had my Bronco kept hearing a weird thumping sound with a shake went off the ramp right before the outerbridge crossing into sewaren and as I was coming down the ramp the tire went bouncing bye me. Scarded the sh%t out of me. Never did find the tire. It's a lesson well learned, I alway check the lugs .

Glad your alright!!!

That does suck,

I try not to rely on people working on my truck.

But with tires I even try to check 1 or two lug nuts on each wheel......

Steve-yes, glad your ok!

I learned my lesson from my dealer. They rotated the tires, after I told them to NOT touch them, and they forgot to torque the wheels down. They called me as I was driving down the street. Dumb Arse!

Now, anytime it goes in for warranty work I torque the wheels down before I leave just in case. And, anytime I take a trip I double check them.

As far as the unbody lights did you tell them there were there before he proceed to give you a tow? If he doesn't know they are there how could he prevent them from breaking? If he broke them have the tow company pay for them.

Could always say they broke when the truck hit the ground....

Tom, they were his stock ford rims....

Sorry, I was referring to the LEDS and STROBES underneath, Todd. And it was stocks that were being put back on...to replace the 20s for the winter...so it's all about mods.

Not meaning to rub salt in a wound, I just find a little perverse pleasure that spend all the time, money on mods and somehow they bite them in the arse, either in warranty work that is denied, electrical problems that arise, or in this case, clueless tow drivers and other mechanics...though I understand the ROOT cause could have happened, mods involved or not.

What is that German word for finding pleasure in the mishaps of others??? (serious questions).

Oh, and sorry Steve K. Glad you are OK!

See I will never complain that a mod I did broke something else.....

No reason for it.....

IF warranty work is denied thats the chance you take, but most places/dealers are also looking for the quick way out...

I had a couple of new tires put on one time, and was headed back to college when I realized that helicopter sound following me was getting louder! I pulled off and found that both back wheels were still loose! Now I watch them when they put the tires on.
