I use Mobil 1. Changed it once already. IMO Mobil 1, Valvoline Synthetic, or Redline are all very good.

Gen 2's are sweet, they have a drain plug in the rear. It is easier to fill if you take the spare tire out.

Any major syn is good. If you have limited slip. Be sure to put a bottle of motorcraft friction modifier in. Even if the lube says it has it in there. I have found that ford limited slips work the best with their friction modifier. It will mix with what ever brand lube you use.

The gen 2 has an open diff so you dont "need" the friction additive.........

But i normally add it any way..... :)

Todd, I was watching a video on a R&P swap. It was a ford open diff. The mechanic did the same. He added the modifier anyway. He didnt explain why though.

There are brass thrust washers in there..... They can use the extra lubrication to lower noise and aid the rears performance...

As I recall, Mobil 1 lube says that you don't have to add friction modifier. I don't think it would hurt, I'm just sayin'....

Johnny, I swaped my 'stang over to mobil 1 diff lube. I had to go get a bottle of the ford modifier. Clutches chattered bad until I did. The mobil 1 bottle said modifier included. Most likely the wrong formula for ford.:banghead:
