when i go over a bump it seems like my shocks just keep rocking after i hit the bump VERY UNCOMFORTABLE

i have an 01 with 88k

anyone have any recs on what kind i should get if i need them

i want comfort

My 04 did that with 5K on it. Changed to Rancho RSX. It will seem stiff at first but no rocking horse effect. Do a search.

Get them soon and IMHO they should be in the bed of the truck when you drive it off the lot from day one. I went with Rancho RSX also and love them. Huge difference!!!!;)

If you have 88,000 miles on your Sprort Trac, then you are 79,999 miles over due in changing out your shocks! :)

All kidding aside, your OEM shocks have done their duty with 88K miles on them. When I had my Trac, I had the Rancho RSX shocks and really liked the ride they gave.

Monroe Reflex all around. They stopped the rolling motion after every lean. The shocks are still stiff after, what, ten thousand miles I think it's been. I like the fact that they're silver too. heheh. I have an 04, stock height, stock wheels and tires. Here's a link to an old post:

Jordan,

Just so you know, the Rancho RSX and Monroe Reflex are the exact same shock. Both are made by the parent company, Tenneco; and sold under two different brands. If you're deciding between those two shocks, it will probably boil down to the best deal you can find.

I have the Rancho RSX's. If I had to do it over again, I'd have probably bought the Monroe Reflex's. The RSX has a red rubber boot that you have to put on over the shock during install, and it's a pain in the @$$. The Reflex doesn't have a boot, so the install would be much easier.

Tip: However, if you do purchase a shock with a rubber boot, use a little bit of dishwashing soap as a lubricant, and the boot will go on a little easier.

I'm sure you'll get recommendations from members here for many different replacement shocks. Anything is an improvement over the stock shocks, so you can't go wrong no matter which shock you choose.

If you can get your trac up to 88MPH and go back in time 88K miles, you should do it then.

I love my Edelbrocks, put them on around 36K-40K

I needed shocks a couple weeks back and everyone here agreed the Pro Comp 3000's were the best. Right now you can get a free upgrade to the 9000's at www.4wheelonline.com

You get 4 Pro Comp 9000's for $107.00

Great shocks and they give a great ride.

A fellow www.myst'r, Nasty Nate works for 4wheelparts.com and matched the 4wheelonline.com deal and threw in the boots. Here is the link to that discussion,

I went with www.4wheelonline.com and was very happy but it wouldn't hurt to give the other place a call if they will still throw in the boots.

I'm installing a set of pro comp 9000 shocks I just received from 4Wheelparts.com. Our friend Nasty Nate works there. I have the back shocks installed and will do the fronts on monday. The bounce test (jumping on the bumper) prove how much better these shocks are over factory.

There was a little glitch in the ordering (some stcok lady named Michelle acidentally sent 2x4 front shocks). I just found out 2x4 shocks are too fat to clear the front axle of a 4x4. GRrrrrrr....

On the bright side I have a complete new set of shocks on the way (free of charge). You guys really need to talk to Nate at 4WHEELPARTS.COM. He doesn't just go the extra mile, he runs the marathon for a fellow My Sport Trac Member.....Thanks again Nathan.

jordan,

Even had my Ford Service Manager ( yes, all of you read that correctly!) tell

me that the factory stock shocks, at least on the tracs, were junk!

He said and told me the same thing that AndyH said, RSX and Reflexes were the same

shock, and go where you can get the better deal on either. Isn't that refreshing!!!

He said that his recommended application was actually the Monroe Reflexes,

(off the record, of course!), and that many customers have called back and

thanked him for his opinion.

The Reflexes are where I am putting my hard-earned money!

:D

When? On the way home from purchasing your Trac.

What? All of the suggested shocks(Reflex, SensaTrac, RSX, etc etc) are fine. I have Reflexes and love them.

I'm totally amazed your Trac has 88K and the oem shocks. You could probably take them completely off and drive around with no shocks and it would be an improvement. I changed mine at about 35k and wished I'd done it much sooner.
