Some neighborhoods are so bad, and have been for so long, its hard to tell the good folk from the scum.

Sometimes I do wish everyone would have a gun and more disputes would get settled one-on-one. I feel that I can talk and conduct myself well enough that I doubt I would ever got shot for something I said. But a lot of other people in this world would get a cap in the arse pronto the way they talk.

Maybe arming everyone would be a good thing. Might just raise the civility some, or at the very least accelerate the Darwin effect.

Tom, I have purchased several guns in my past.

I have never filled out a FEDERAL form and all were purchased through a dealer.

Hmmm..... I hope it's been a few years since you purchased because ATF requires all licensed dealers to have a completed ATF FORM 4473 on each and every gun sold (with some exception). Page 1 of the form 4473 is completed and signed by the purchaser. The dealer can waive the background check if the buyer is a CCW holder but the 4473 must reflect such (block #21).

See below link to the CFR regarding the sale or transfer of weapons to persons other than those that hold a FFL (dealer's license). Paragraph "c" explains it.

We can also legally own silencers. I can even saw off a shotgun, reclassify it as an AOW (any other weapon), pay a $5 tax and be legal.

Rob:

To be legal wouldn't you reclassify it as an AOW (any other weapon), pay a $5 tax and THEN saw off a shotgun and THEN be legal? It believe that is the LEGAL procedure for AOW and SBR/SBS?

And Bill:

I live in a gated retirement Community, with a manned gaurd house 24/7

No crime in my Hood, never has been, we dont even lock our doors

I don't think guards at the gate will detour rascals that want to take advantage of your unlocked doors. Where I work, there is an 8 foot chainlink fence with an electonic gate between the parking lot and the alley. I saw a couple of street punks walking through the parking lot towards the fence, thinking that they were going to be frustrated when they found out the gate was electronic, they didn't break stride and were up and over with no loss of pace....just like a couple gazzelles. So a guard/fence is not much of a deterrent to a couple punk gazzelles!! LOL. And it isn't going to get any better IMO.

Maybe the Civilian National Military Corp will make the country safe for all in the future but I doubt it.

Three rules of shooting at someone.

1. Shoot only in self defense of yourself or someone else. (Or your dawg)

2. If possible shoot while seaking cover. (Over the shoulder while running is wise)

3. When asked by the police why you shot, say. "To stop them from doing what they were doing" do not say, "To Kill Them "

Every handgun I purchase from a dealer since 1969 has required federal filing, even TN.

Good shooting, with the way things are going, you need something.go to J & G sales and get a 9x18 makrov,is a great carry gun and plenty of hp at the muzzle.I keep one handy!

Yes, in Tennessee I can own a fully automatic machine gun after I pay my $200 tax stamp and file a Form 4. We can also legally own silencers. I can even saw off a shotgun, reclassify it as an AOW (any other weapon), pay a $5 tax and be legal.

Saw it off under 16" if you like, but you better get a tax stamp for it ($200 plus the cost of finger prints, engraving, and LEO signature). Anything under 16" in considered a short barrel and by FEDERAL statues require a green stamp. Possess an SBR and get caught with it or have the BATF find out you have it and it is a nice fine ($10,000) and 10 years in jail.

Owning a fully automatic will cost you more than $200 for the tax stamp also. It requires a Class III license, and that is something they just don't hand out like a carry conceal permit.

I would recommend reading through this link:

http://www.tfaonline.org/index.php/class3/index

You are getting into the FEDERAL REALM, not just state. Just because you live in Tennessee won't help you a bit when you get into NFA and Class III items. I live in a state (Utah) that is just as open on its possession laws as Tennessee, but that doesn't mean I don't have to follow through with Federal mandates. I know all of Utah's regulations, but still have to follow NFA regulations on all my green stamp items, including my SBR's and silencers.

Because it is a cheap piece of crap.

Really, I did not know Ammo with a muzzle energy of 700 Foot lbs can be considered a "cheap piece of crap".

You live in California. You are all but allowed to even own a gun.

Tom

I have never filled out a FEDERAL form and all were purchased through a dealer. In Tennessee, the a state background is ran for the purchase of a firearm unless you purchase an excessive amount in a short period of time. Under normal circumstances it is only a state check and there is no wait time or cool off period. The background check is ran over the phone and I walk out with a gun.

As has been stated, the 4473 is a FEDERAL form. A willful violation of the gun shop is grounds for criminal prosecution, revocation of FFL and quite possibly confiscation of ALL inventory (including ammo and archery equipment). I personally would not EVER buy from a dealer that would not fill out a 4473 (not that I like the Goberment knowing I am buying a firearm), but it's the law. The Brady check is ran via BATFE Field Office in Atlanta (for the east coast and midwest). It's a simple call that the dealer calls a specific number, gives his FFL, indicates what type of firearm (rifle, shotgun or handgun), repeats the information off the 4473 to the agent on the other end, the agent runs the check and gives the dealer a unique transaction ID to put on the form. If all is clean and green, he files his paperwork for the next 20 years or until he/she closes shop (then the 4473's go to the ATF).

In Arkansas... no wait period unless the Brady check come back with something. I have gone at the beginning of lunch, bought a firearm and was back at work less than an hour later. Not a problem.

Guns are not registered in Tennessee unless the weapon is classified as machine gun, AOW, etc. Yes, in Tennessee I can own a fully automatic machine gun after I pay my $200 tax stamp and file a Form 4. We can also legally own silencers. I can even saw off a shotgun, reclassify it as an AOW (any other weapon), pay a $5 tax and be legal.

Very few states have gun registrations. In Arkansas, I can own anything I want, assuming I can pass the background check and can pay the $200 tax stamp (or hold a Class III or Class VII FFL). Yes, we can saw off ANY long gun AFTER you pay the $200 stamp (not $5, per the Fed's). If you cut it before paying and getting approved... you are in voilation of the law and stand a good chance at being violated yourself in beautiful Club Fed.

Because it is a cheap piece of crap.

Which would that be? The Makarov, the TT33, etc? All former military firearms. You do realize that all bullet-proof vests used by law enforcement and military must be what's called "Tokarov Rated". 7.62x25 can defeat class II body armour.

Not such a cheap piece of crap is it? I love my TT33. It's a virtual copy of the Colt M1903. It's a spectacular firearm that I will not trade for anything. I guess you can call them a "cehap piece of crap" since the military versions do not meet Kommiefornia's Approved Handgun List (no lockbar to prevent fireing when dropped.... even though they cannot fire when dropped as it is... and the "manufacturer's" won't pay the extortion fee to the Kommiefornia politicians...)

When you walk away and let thugs TAKE your neighborhood, you are the cause. If everyone stood up and said "We are not going to accept this in our neighborhoods", things will change. When we run to another town where we feel warm and fuzzy, we are allowing scum to succeed.

I have to agree and disagree. I agree on taking back your neighborhood and defending your ground, area, neighbors, whatever, shoot the bad guys yada, yada, yada. Unfortunately there are far to many places where they've taken away the ability to do so. I'm all for calling the cops and all, and even intervening if the need be, but it's going to be pretty special circumstances before I'm bringing pepper spray to a gunfight.

All I know is I been to the places where people can be armed, and the places where people can't be armed, and I have to tell you the quality of life seems better when anyone could fairly whip or shoot your ass for being an *******.

Personally I think everyone should be issued a firearm on High School graduation day and enlisted in some kind of civil defense force. Really, because you're all forgetting the real reazon every citizen should be armed, zombies. We are on the verge of a great zombie event, and when that happens, shotguns and adamantium crowbars will be your friends. Mark my words.

Not for self defense, I hope. Fine for plinking.

1200 rounds for $89.00 would be awesome. That is what I am talking about. Plus the 7.62x25 is a bad azz mofo.

Tom

Soviet, Chinese, Czech, Yugo, etc. military used (use?) 7.62x25 since prior to WWII. Beside the Tok and CZ-52, the PPsH series used the round and there were several other submachine guns that were all built around that round. It sizzles!

If you can use a .380ACP for self protection, you can use x25. x25 is larger and faster than a .380ACP projectile, and faster than a 9mm.

9mm: 1000-1430 ft/s, 309-519 ft-lb (depending on load), 9.03mm diameter projectile

.380ACP: 980-1000 ft/s, 270-275 ft-lb (dpending on load), 9.0mm diameter projectile

7.62x25: 1200-1700 ft/s, 290-527 ft-lb (depending on load), 7.8mm diameter projectile

.38 Special: 689-984 ft/s, 156-235 ft-lb (depending on load), 9.1mm diameter projectile

5.7x28 FN: 1000-2350 ft/s, 120-397 ft-lb (depending on load), 5.7mm diameter projectile

There are several self-denfese rounds (Hornaday XTP for example). Is it the best round? Personal choice. Will it suffice? Oh yeah. Would I use my TT-33 with surplus ammo to ward off an attacker? Only if it was the only firearm I had with me. Would I carry my TT-33 with XTP's? I'd consider it.

An autopsy on Wednesday showed he was shot multiple times in the torso. The death has been ruled a homicide.

It should read:

"The death was ruled a justifiable homicide..."

Residents and business owners believe the neighborhood remains safe, despite the robbery.

-Especially now that there is one less dirtbag living there...

If this were my neighborhood, I'd be ordering pizza from this guy regularly.

If this were my neighborhood, I'd be ordering pizza from this guy regularly.

He was on the radio the other day being interviewed. He said he has recieved numerous calls from other states thanking him fr what he did. He has also had a few calls from outside of the country saying the same thing.

He also has had people driving from out of state to order a pizza from him. The furthest, so far, has been New Jersey. Other states include Indiana, W. Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The citizans in the neighborhood have been very supportive of the owner. Many have came in and thanked the owner for doing what he did.

I know I plan on buying pizza from him more often.
