    Rear End Whine

When was the last time you changed the pumpkin juice?

What did you do for New Year's Eve?

Stayed home and started watching 'Dollhouse' again with the wife. Good times!

    front pads

Semi-metallic: better stopping, can be noisy, lots of dust. If you tow stuff or consistently carry heavy stuff in the bed get these. Ceramic: good stopping, quiet, clean. Get these for a daily driver, grocery getter, kid dropper-offer, point AtoB truck. I used the Raybestos hybrids: part...

    No over drive

First step... you need the to have the trouble codes read.

    No power on console

You can still check for power... red to hot, black to chassis. If you still have no power then it's not the common ground wire. You can also check continuity of the ground... red to black, black to chassis and hope for a beep (if your meter beeps).

    No power on console

Got power going into the outlet? If yes then the outlet is borked. If not then check for power coming out of the fuse box. Etc on down the line.

    Is “Scotty” right?

Have only seen one or two of his videos. Ended up clicking out when he said something totally stupid. But, he is not completely wrong here. IMO, it depends on the machine the shop uses to do the flush. If they use a machine that uses its own pumps to force fluid through the transmission that is...

Gen 2 Sport Trac rear door locking actuator replacement/lock not working

1... That's " good", narrows it down. 2... Can't assume. It would suck to spend the money and ample aggravation to replace the actuator without testing it first. 3... Confusion. You can lock it from the front driver's door? 4... Again, can't assume. If there is a broken wire or a bad switch...

Gen 2 Sport Trac rear door locking actuator replacement/lock not working

Is it just the one door? Is the actuator trying but the lock is not moving (can you hear it clicking)? Is the actuator getting power? Is the door button getting power? Is the master button (drivers door) outputting power to that door? If it is not trying and it is getting power then that...

    Coolant Leak to Nowhere?

Didn't see it mentioned... have you check the radiator yet? They have a habit of cracking down the seam in the plastic side "tanks".

Strange pulsing whine in speakers caused by bluetooth

Just installed a replacement Pioneer DEH-S6220BS and so far so good. A quick test showed absolutely no whine from the Bluetooth module. Avoid the JVC KD-X380BTS! (and probably all its variants: 280, 480, etc) At least for about a year or so. It is a remarkable little unit with all the features...

Is Cloyes still a quality brand?

Did a quick search for timing chain tensioners because it is probably high time I changed mine. Did not come up with any Motorcraft available, other than some questionable deals on ebay, (have not contacted ford yet) but Cloyes are available. I know they used to be "the ****" at one time. Any...

    Timing chain

It just started making noise? Drain oil, drop oil pan and check for shrapnel in the pan. If you find no plastic bits then replace both of the chain tensioners.

    2005 ford freestar

While you have the multimeter out... check for power at the engine compartment fuse box. #75 (PCM power diode) should be a good place to start. If you have power to that fuse box then move to the inside fuse box. That thing is called the SJB (Smart Junction Box). Check for power coming into it...

Strange pulsing whine in speakers caused by bluetooth

Yeah, I understand JCV is kind of a "budget" option but it's not just on unused input, it on all inputs all the time, including FM. I talked to JVC, Crutchfield, an in-town car audio pro, r/CarAV: it is so far unheard-of. Last night I did find some info in the DIYaudio community. Some of these...

    2005 ford freestar

Just throwing this out there as it is a quick check... hook your multimeter up, red to battery terminal, black to some place on the chassis. If you get a wonky reading then hunt down and clean up the black battery cable ground to chassis (should be right next to the battery). If you find this...

Strange pulsing whine in speakers caused by bluetooth

Pulled the dash bezel out and disconnected everything attached to it, no change. Cleaned and tightened battery terminals, nope. Disassembled and cleaned the four grounds (that i could find) in the engine compartment, nope. Disconnected orange illumination wire, nope. Disconnected one speaker at...

Strange pulsing whine in speakers caused by bluetooth

Battery is less than a year old. Terminals are clean but I will clean a re-seat them anyway. The three major grounds are clean but I will clean and re-seat them too. I don't have a spare battery but I think I may still have an old PC power supply I can use to grab 12 volts. Will have to search...

Strange pulsing whine in speakers caused by bluetooth

Freakin' frak! Replacement unit does the same thing. I cannot fathom what is going on here. Is there anything in the truck that cycles power 10 seconds off, 8 seconds on repeatedly? Everything in the truck is off and/or unplugged, key on but truck not running. I really want to love this head...

2010 XLT 4.0 Sport Trac muffler delete

In and around my area there is the potential of getting pulled over and fined. They don't enforce it very strictly but if the cop needs a win and it is loud enough (and sounds like crap) the chance is there.
