Getting back into cigars. I did a window cleaning job at a cigar shop and it started smelling good.

Mostly I just smoke when I golf but the shop gave me a few. My long-time favorite has been Macanudo Maduros but the guy gave me a Fonseca that was real good and I really really liked the Rocky Patel Reserve. The RP would be a great golf cigar because it burned a long time and didn't go out. The couple La Unica 600's I smoked were very good for being inexpensive.

Cohiba's tend to be the "name" cigar but over the years I've found them to be maddeningly inconsistent, out of about every three you get one bad one that doesn't draw.

When I was finishing up the windows, a guy came in and started setting up microphones for a podcast from the shop.

Opinions?

Opinions on cigars?

I really don't have one other than I like smoking those that others have purchased, but only infrequently.

For a real opinion I guess you will have to make due with George Carlin's opinion on cigars (no need to check Snopes, I saw the HBO special in which he said this)...and please don't read if you are easily offended by obscenities...click the link below and search for what SlimyEnergyCloud posted.

 I'll be the first one to say that cigars usually taste better than they smell. FWIW, I'm not fat and I'm not rich.

Right now, I'm really partial to Cienfuegos by Puros Indios of Honduras. I do smoke differant Indios, but the Cienfuegos are the top in their line. Even being hand made, I've noticed that they seem to be consistant. They are a relatively expensive cigar, but I got them dirt cheap during my time there. If you try them, I suggest the Rookie. It's a good size.

Right now my favorites are the Gurkha Symphony and Graycliff Vintage '99. Any line of Graycliff's will be expensive though. Since you are getting into cigars I would recommend getting a sampler pack from an online store. I have linked a couple for you to look at and have bought before from this retailer. They are priced well on samplers but tend to be expensive on boxes. Cigarbid.com is another good place to get cigars on the cheap once you found what you like.

Very partial to Macanudos, have had a great La Aurora, and recently in Mexico I bought a Fonseca Cuban from a nice tobacco store, it was good but would not my favorite new try.

I always go back to Macs.

An old El Producto and a shot of Jack Daniels. It'll make a man out of ya!!!

Or a Cherry Tiapirrilo and an ice cold Pepsi. Good flavor combination in the summer

settin' on the porch. (Just my opinion). ;)

The cigar shop guy gave me a few Indios, among others, I thought they were very mild but pretty good. Smoked a Nicarocoa (sp?) yesterday that tasted very salty. Never ran into that before.

A buddy of mine smokes cigars because he thinks they make him look like a movie star. I told him that I could see the resemblance--he looked a lot like Lassy taking a dump...

I've got some cheap-o ass Thompson 2nd's.... they are actually great! I'm almost out. Need to make a call.

I personally like some of the Box sticks. I've had some good ones and plenty of bad.

Onyx are good. R&J are nice. Not all that impressed with Cohiba.

Just thinking about them makes me want one now.... thanks.

La Gloria are good, pardrons as well, if you like to try different brands, never been disappointed in these, go great with a nice scotch on the rocks and a cool afternoon/evening, watching the world go by
