gary, no real application,, just an extra logo... I would kinda like to put this on my uniform shirt, My state/key logo cost too much to embroider. Again,,, just an old man with nothing better to do,,, work sucks right now or should I say NO WORK............

larue,

just asking how you were using the logo. vehicle, biz cards, and you said uniform.

IMO, be consistent of all your ad.

hope biz gets better. :haveabeer:

The left is what I have now, The new one is what I was thinking. I think the new one would look good on a polo. Rose won't let me wear my Dickies except to work in.

LaRue,

I like it!

I especally like the stylized L and K....Very nice logo. Just be sure to include the full name "Carolina Lock & Key" below the logo so everyone will know what the CLK means.

Would you be able to make the CLK in a 3-D effect font for printed media as well. I like it on the embroidery and think it may look great on printed media as well.

LaRue, in general it looks quite good, I really like the direction it's going--but there are a couple small changes I'd recommend making.

The main thing I'd recommend is to tweak some things to make the "<" look a bit more like a "K". As is, when I first see it, it looks like "C"-"L"-"symbol for 'less than' ", not "CLK". Maybe shorten the bottom leg of the L slightly, so that the point of the < is actually touching the vertical leg of the L? If you need to, reverse the slant angle of the lower right corner of the L, so the < fits in there better.

Also, if you want the text underneath it to be more easily read (and easier to embroider clearly), especially on something the size of a chest embroidery, enlarge that line's font size, and break it into two lines--"Carolina" on the first line, and "Lock & Key" on the second. Have the "Carolina" be in a slightly larger font size than the second line--which both emphasizes it a bit over the second line, and allows the two lines to be the exact same length.

Bill V,

I understand where you are coming from in wanting to make the stylized "K" more obvious, however i think adding the "Carolina Lock & Key" under the logo makes it perfectly clear that the letters are "CLK" and visually the "K" becomes more unique.

LaRue,

I had thought that the "C" resembled the shackle of a padlock. The "L" resembled the body of the lock, so I thought perhaps adding the saw-tooth blade of a key to the front of the "K" and going behind th "L" to the center of the opening in the "C" would be something interesting to see. The "K" would appear to be the part of the key you hold in your hand wit the blade extending out.

I really like the simplicity of the logo and adding a key blade to the background might clutter it up too much...but since you are using PS, it might be worth a little time to see how it would look.

Richard L--Yeah, I can see that too. But in that case, I go back to recommending a font increase on those words to make it more clear when the viewer is observing it more casually. Remember--many people won't be viewing this in clear black-and-white on a computer screen. It'll be embroidered on a shirt--where small fonts are hard to produce, let alone how difficult they are to read.

It's definitely on the right path--but more clarity in either the symbol and/or the text would help.

Bill V.

I think the samples of shirts LaRue look pretty good and the Carolina Lock & Key can easily be read even in the small size of the photos...and I don't have the best eyes anymore..

The company I worked for had a logo with the company name printed underneath in rather small letters but it was very visible and easy to read standing 5-6 foot away. I also think that the stylized "K" will catch the viewer attention, so that he will look closer and read the company name. If it was just CLK, someone might just assume it was someones initials, but the uniqueness of the "K" makes me want to look closer at what it stands for...even if you did not initially see it as a "K".

Of course we could knit-pick any logo to death, but I do like what LaRue has now. It's clean, simple and yet eye catching with the stylized "K".

How bout something like this?

LaRue,

That's the best one yet! Reversing the cut at the bottom of the "L" to match the angle of the V shaped "K" really pulls it all together. I guess that's what Bill V was describing, and I must agree that little modification does a lot. It makes the "K" more obvious, but still gets your attenton ... It's like an optical illusion that kind of tricks the eye enough to make you take a second look...and that's what you want a logo to do.
