LaRue,

I think the block lettering is easier to read, but lacks style....It's just too plain.

I prefer the Italic (slanted) Times Roman in the previous sample. It adds just enough contrast or variation to give it a little "Bling".

LaRue, looks good! I like the improved L, and the improved C too! And the K is now much clearer too. Well done!

For the bottom line font (both font style and size)--Get some input from your embroiderer. They'll be able to give you some feedback on what they're capable of doing in a way which is readable and professional-looking. If it's all the same to them, then of these two you displayed, I like the first one with the italicized all-caps font. But don't be surprised if they tell you to increase the font size for their sake.

I think this might just be the final copy. I enlarged the "Car....Key" on the bottom, made a better "C" and moved the "K" over to the left just a scoche. Made all the letters the same thickness. It IS a lot more readable. THANKS GUYS!!

LaRue--Is the "3-D" effect seen on the shirt, but not in the logo above it, part of the design to be embroidered? Or is that just an attempt to show how it might look if the embroidery is naturally raised slightly?

The reason I ask--I think the 3-D effect on the "CLK" on the shirt looks rather sharp--to the point where you may want to consider actually embroidering it that way!

LaRue,

I agree, that the 3d effect shown on the shirt really makes the logo pop! Of course that may mess up your spacing again...

I do like the new logo.

That said, I STRONGLY agree that you need to have the full name as John Q Public will NOT know who CLK is. and I am guessing you are spending so pretty good money in the form of advertising.

They may easily miss CLK when looking for Carolina Lock and Key....

Kevin, This logo is mainly to be put on a polo type shirt, Maybe long sleeve "levis" type shirt in the winter. Stuff like Todd sells here. I just want something I can wear out in public with my name on it. Something Rose won't be embarrassed about when seen with me. She hates it when we go anywhere and I am still wearing my dickies shirt. I will not change anything on my truck, cards, or advertising....

Yeaa Bill,, the 3d effect helps me see what it may look like with the raised embroidery.

LaRue,

The new logo looks great.

Sorry to hear that business is slow.

One thing I try to do when many industries are "bust" is to figure out which ones will typically "boom" at the same time. For example, in times of high unemployment and massive layoffs the business related to the refit of IT systems used by staffing, job retraining and employment assistance firms tends to "boom."

I wonder if in these bad times with lots of foreclosures if you could seek out home mortgage lenders and even local police departments and provide your services for "re-coring" of foreclosure properties???? Or, is that business already all sewn up?

LaRue,

You have not answered Bill V's question...Are you planning on using the 3-D effect when the shirts are embroidered? I can understand where cost might be a factor, but I do like the sample 3-D shirts.

Tom, I'm actually doing about 7-8 foreclosures a month right now (avg $200 per house and 3 months to get paid). Lockouts are good, but 1-2 jobs a day doesn't pay many bills... It's always slow in june, everyone getting out of school and going on some small vacation. It will get better.

Richard, Bill.... I will look into the 3d thing but from the embroidery I have now almost looks 3d, it's kinda bulky.... but looks good

LaRue, I can't speak for Rich (he may have been meaning the exact same thing as I'm about to say), but when I was saying to pursue the "3D" look, I wasn't meaning to pay extra for actual 3-dimensional embroidery. Instead, I was meaning to alter the graphic to get the 3D look even in 2D. When viewed on the computer screen in 2D, each of the letters on the shirt images appear to have an "open" space on the right and top sides. You can get much of that same look by adding such white/void space to your graphic.

On the other hand--once you do it, you and or the rest of us may end up deciding that the unaltered version was better anyway. :haveabeer: Either way, it looks sharp!

LaRue,

One other thing, at first glance (to me) the new logo seems to say "C K", especially at a distance. I know the stylized intent of making the L and the K share a vertical...

Just saying.

TJR

I personally like the previous version as shown with the guy in the light green shirt. I think that the spacing makes one look a second time to see if they really saw CLK or CL or CK??? Getting that second look is what I find most appealing b creating a bit of eye confusion.

It's all about getting someone's attention.

I'm not saying any particular version is bad. I was just pointing out that people might inadvertently call you CK given a quick, first glance.

TJR

Here is one last version setup. :btddhorse:

I really think #3 is the best yet.

LaRue,

I agree that #3 is the best yet. I like the slash cuts on the top an bottom of the "C" which mimic the angles of th "K" and the "L". I like that style even better than the 3-D effect. It keeps it simple, but having all the letters with a slash cut really pulls all the letters together as a custom Font.

Great job....

Now leave it alone or designing your logo will become your career.

Thanks Richard, I have to leave it as #3 because Rose said that's the one i will be allowed to use. So #3 it is. The embroidery shop liked it to. They're going to digitize it and I'll have 1 shirt made up. I'll post it when I get er done..................:driving: Thanks guys for all the inputs.
