Not while the engine is running. Let it evaporate before startup.
The reason I said most likely the MAF. A recent article I read, they ran a test. The air filter had to be almost 80% blocked before it could throw any codes. Or cause serious milage and drivability problems, under normal driving conditions. They made a statment though that the dirt saturation could migrate to the MAF. I suppose the symtom is the dirty filters fault. The MAF would need to be cleaned along with filter replacment or cleaning.
The test was done on a 4 banger Ford, GM and VW.
Cant remember where the article was. I was suprised at the 80% after all we hear about dirty filters affecting millage and performance.
Then my dislaimer is I might be full of it. Or there test was.
