dog food - wet or dry ?

i was watching marc morrone a pet expert from long island the other day.

he mentioned that you should feed your dog wet food as dry food is processed much more then wet food. other people insist on dry food for our greyhound as they usually have teeth issue's and the dry food is better for them.

i started introducing some wet food with the dry food as i only want the best for my doggie :wub:

we use purina one chicken/lamb/salmon dry and mix a little canned purina one in.

what do you feed you dog and what brand?

i feed my baby both wet and dry...

dry in the morning for breakfast/ lunch then she gets a mix of dry and wet for dinner...

I use Chicken soup All organic, No corn, wheat or rye ( misty is alergic)....



She loves the stuff......

I get it from Total pet care Right behind Furn-a-kit..

Our dogs have always gotten only dry food, one time per day, about 5:00pm. Dry food is much better for their teeth and prevents that doggy breath. I also give them a few small Milk Bone dog biscuts after they come in in the morning and one at bed time.



Wet food only about 1 time a year and very limited people food which might consist of a bone from a T-Bone steak, or a lttle gravy on their dry food. Of course they get turkey, gravy and some mashed pototoes at Thanksgiving because they are family

left over chicken, all the giblets and the broth boiled up,spooned over the dry, nuke it for 20 secs with some rice, all my dawgs lived to be 15/18 yrs on that stuff.

last dawg went down last xmas day, no more dawgs for us.

Dry only morning and dinner. One regular greenie after breakfast and a natural dried chicken strip after dinner. My Beagle is 7 and German Shepherd is 6, they have never had their teeth brushed and the Vet is amazed at how clean they are. Solid poop and good breath is a plus to too for dry food.

We feed our Sydney once a day a mixture of raw chicken and dry (Wellness Super 5 Mix, chicken flavored or Pet Promise also chicken flavored). We also give her Dogswell strips of Happy Hips, Breathies, & Vitality; she likes the duck flavor the best.

Endo, our 50 pound mutt gets fed 2x daily - 1/2 cup of dry (Purina Pro Plan) plus a teaspoon of wet, (Cesar's) just for flavor. Very, very rarely people food, usually limited to some scrambled eggs. He weighed 35 pounds when we adopted him 5 years ago, he was left behind in his yard when his family split up and moved. He was so skinny, and his head so big, he looked like he would do an end over end if he stopped suddenly. So...Endo!

Nikko Blue (Yorkie) T.J. (Maltepoo) get Purina One Lamb/Rice. Leo (Rotwieller/Lab mix) gets IAMS Pro-active for large Breeds. I have been told that dry food is better for their digestive tract. They NEVER, EVER get human food! There are so many foods that are toxic to dogs (& cats) that people are not aware of.

When Timmy was alive he was allergic to everything, now he did eat people food. Lamb baby food with steamed white rice. All the dog foods made him sick and this was the only thing the vet could recommend to keep him well...go figure, but it did work.

Our boxer gets Chicken Soup for the Soul dry as boxers can have a sensitive tummy, our 5 lb mutt gets purina one small bites. Wet dog food can cause tooth decay as the dry dog food supposedly will help clean their teeth, but the 5lb mutt (I call her Weiner) likes to store her food in her mouth like a squirrel or chipmunk does, which really makes her breath smell like a septic tank at times. Roxy the boxer gets 2 cups/serving 2x/day, weiner eats whenever she wants too, but a 5 lb bag will last a month for her if Roxy doesn't eat her food too.

Nutro Ultra for our greyhound, dry. He still has most of his teeth, although just last night we got Ultra Senior for the first time since it is smaller pieces. He is almost 10 and will probably lose another molar soon.

Our 3 yr.old Yellow Lab,Casey,is a Purina Little Bites/Dry eater,once a day.She also gets 3 Large Milk Bones a day,and she has her kong which gets peanut butter 2 times a day.She is a sweetie and the vet loves her ,along with her health and her clean teeth.

Most of this care was also used on our 14 year Yellow Lab,Hannah,who passed a few years ago.

IMOurina is a good brand.

Dry food only here. My Pitbull gets fed twice daily with a tea spoon of flax seed oil once a week. We feed him Beneful but are switching soon to diamond.

Purina dog chow. I have been feeding this to my dogs for 37 years. most of them have lived to be 15 to 18 years old. I swear by the stuff. They get treats after we eat our supper mostly beggin strips etc.
