OK,

I have posted about a problem with my power locks not functioning correctly. Well after taking apart the dash, I found that its the relays in the PATS module that is located behind the passenger side air bag.

Anyone have an idea what is involved with replacing that module? Can I get a PATS module from a 2001 Explorer or Sport or another Sport Trac at a junk yard and to a simple swap? Is there programming involved for my current keys? If so, does anyone have the procedure? If I am able to do all this, I promise to take lots of pictures and write it up.

you should be able to swap it out, BUT there has to be a way to reset it, because you need the 2 keys that came with the truck to program your keys to it... Hopefully some one can help. You may want to call a local junk yard ans ask them if they will help if you bought the part from them..

Hey Todd,

Long time no speak. Thats good news for me. I have both keys that came with my truck. Do I use the same procedure to program the new PATS module for my keys as I would if I got a new blank key and programmed the PATS for it? I am having trouble find a price of a new module off the net, so i put in an email to Rusty.

hey, I think what I meant to say is you would need the keys from the junk yard truck... Sorry.

May want to check with the junk yard.. Or even CoastieJoe, he has a good JY connection...

Good to here from you.

Here's a great site to help with this type of problem. Quick responses.

I did get your email. I have to contact a few yards today about little trinket parts. Normally, trinkets are the biggest hassle within the industry. One of those things where the labor to remove it is worth more than the part and on top of that you still need to ship it.....

So, I will see if I can include your request as it will help for afordability for sure. I'll get back to you this morning...

Thanks Coastie, I appreciate your help with the junk yards. I don't mind the shipping. Rusty got back to me today, and said that I will still have to take the truck into the shop for programming, so he could give me a price.

I have checked the 12volt.com website, and it had information, just nothing that deals with the PATS system directly. But if I can't either replace or repair the PATS module, then I will have to Bypass it for unlocking and locking the doors. Thats when 12volt.com comes in really handy.
