I personally will not buy another Ford because of there customer service at the dealers.Ford needs to work on vehicles that are a lot more reliable, and offer more vehicles people want. If it wasn't for the Mustang and full size trucks , Ford will have nothing. Most of there vehicles have awefull resale value and they rely on too many older modlels that they just update the front ends and dashes like Focus and taurus. Its no suprise to me there number 4.

I hate to see Ford go belly-up.

Especially when Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Subaru, etc. keep building so many new plants in the US and are so successful.

Seems a US company could do SOMETHING right...

Ford will not go belly up. Ford needs to reinvent themselves and the sales numbers are simply Ford cutting production to meet demand. Once they meet demand and align production numbers with sales numbers, they can begin to produce a profit, they can expand.

Right now, they are paying for decisions made my OVERPAID incompetant CEO's that never earned their money.

Amen.

The funny thing is that these idiots still retire very rich, even when the company goes belly up.

Doesn't seem right to me...

Mud Flap asks:
Why are people buying more Toyota's over Fords? Really... what's the real reason.

Because they prefer Toyotas over Fords.

It's that simple.

Some prefer them because they think they are a better value, some because they think they look nicer, some because they feel they are getting better quality and service, and some because the like what driving an import says about them (many seem to pick cars that tend to define themselves in one way or another).

Simply put, Toyoto markets and sells a more alluring product.

I wonder how many people have switched from Ford to Toyota (or any other manufacturer for that matter).

I guess people are not loyal to a company anymore (if they were treated right).

If for reasons of quality issues with product or customer service, then I can see why Ford is going the way of a Ford.

We sold my wife's 97 Expedition last spring and bought a Toyota Rav4. We didn't necessarily go out looking just for Toyota's but got that one because of it's looks, performance, and good mpg. The domestics had absolutely nothing to compare with it. I could have bought another Expedition for the same price but why would anybody be foolish enough to buy a vehicle today that only gets 14-16 mpg? (Plus my wife wanted something that didn't drive like a boat).

Toyota pickups are not imports. Toyota = Made in USA. Most of the parts are also made in the USA.

Toyota Tacoma pickups are more comfortable, quieter, ride better, get better gas mileage, are more reliable, are cheaper to insure, have better resale value, and have better dealers who more understand customer service than Ford Ranger. Other than these, I can't think of anything else.

Some of Fords drop is sales are also caused by fewer cars sold to the car rental industry. The car rental industry is one of the worst things for resale value. When there are many cars hitting the "used car market" that are only a year old, the value of the used car market drops.

Hopefully Toyota is filling the void and they will loose their resale value.

FWIW, Honda has better resale value then Toyota does.

sst, nice choice. they are cool looking as well as being a quality toyota product !

pics ?

i still need to e-mail you the info for the 07 head/fog light covers, will do on monday.

best of luck !

tom, if honda has better resale value, toyota is damn close, but they still have way better resale than the domestics. you are correct about poor resale values due to the rental industry as well as the fleet consumer. i know gm and ford gaurantee a very good residule to the rental industry just so they can have their vehicles out there and help pump up their numbers. like you said, in turm way to many vehicles hit the market and drop the value.

either way, you know how i feel. the quality of a toyota, honda, nissan are way superior than the domestics.

mud, not that i am aware of. as a matter of fact we were just talking about the lack of effort on honda's part not to go after fleet sales. toyota started marketing to the fleet consumer about 3 years ago. a very smart move !

Yeah, I'm looking at (don't laugh) a 2007 CR-V AWD EX-L. They are realllllly nice and for under $28,000 I can get Leather, heated seats, moonroof, Navigation and rear-view camera (for reverse). I test drove one the other day. By far superior to the RAV4 (though, a V6 would be nice).

Honda really impresses me with the quality.

Honestly, I don;t see the quality of the Japanese imports. My niece drives a 1996 Toyota Tacoma. The knobs fall off the HVAC controls, the doors are paper thin. The body rattles and the dash is a cheap industrial plastic. My brothers friend drives a 2003 Tacoma. Same thing. I honestly don't feel the so called Toyota quality. Cheap industrial quality. My cousin has a Acura that replaced the Legend. It is a newer model. Not impressed with it at all. The really sad thig is that she is planning to replace it with a Ford Escape.

A BMW or Mercedes, I see and feel quality in it. A Toyota? Sorry I do not feel quality.

I am being dead nut honest about this. My youngest cousin HAD a BMW M Roadster. That was a sweet ride. She noe drives a Nissan XTerra. Talk about a pile of garbage. She even says so herself.

My Tundra's interior doesn't peel like my Trac's did.

The doors don't rattle like my trac's did.

The seats don't squeek like my Trac's did.

The plastic doesn't "pop" or "crinkle" when I push on them (like my trac's did).

My truck doesn't stall like my trac did.

The road noise is so much less than my Trac.

When the doors close, they line up (both my trac's had doors that had gaps in them).

Water doesn't leak through windows when using a pressure washer, unlike my trac.

.... so I think the toyota is much better quality, according to the qualifications we've set for the test.:)

Plus, I drive my Tundra harder. It's been twice the places my trac went and has more miles than my trac had.
