Has anyone used high temp paint before? I want to use it on the exhaust pipes of an old motorcycle. Any tips or tricks for using it?

Thanks

Mike

I painted some headers for my mustang with some high temp silver with ceramic, from autozone. The only place it flaked off was right at the head, where the temps are the hotest. I think I did not degrease the metal enough. Also they were stainless steel.

Rich,

I did think about it, but I don't plan on keeping it much longer. The rust on them is getting a little bad and thought I would give the paint a try.

Eddie,

Thanks for that info. I'll keep that in mind.

My only complaint when I used hi-temp silver spray paint was that the silver never stopped coming off whenever you rubbed on it. I'm told that's normal.

If so, I'd avoid the colors with the metal flakes in them (silver/gold, etc)

have painted headers, heads, and the engine to my '47 Willys and a '78 Dodge powerwagan,

the Dodge paint was good for 3 yrs, would have lasted longer but I rolled the truck.

the Willys has lasted for 6 yrs and counting

the most important thing is to have a very clean part. no rust, greese, dirt etc.
