How far between oil changes with synthetic?

Yesterday I changed my oil with Royal Purple synthetic. This is the first time I've used synthetic. Wondering how long most people are going between oil changes with synthetic. Bought the RP directly from a rep that advised me 7000 miles. He said some people are going over 10000 without problems.

Also installed a good Bosch oil filter.

I do my Mobil 1 Synthetic every 4000 miles, but I drive very hard. Last change the oil still looked good, so I may go 5000 on this change and see.

I do my mobile 1 EVERY 3k..... most places say 5K....

I know with RP you can go further, But i don't feel safe doing that..

I do our Royal Purple every 12K with filter & top off every 3k. That is what Royal Purple says, anyway.

I go 12000-15000 miles with either Mobil 1, or Castrol Syntec. I switched to synthetic so i wouldn't have to change the oil in my vehicle so often. The Trac has had synthetic since 3000 miles, it has 78000 on it now, and I tow. So far, no issues...

I use Mobile-1 and change oil every 6K miles. When I used conventional oil I changed every 3K miles.



If you are under warranty, they I would recommend you stick with what the manufacturer recommends which is usually 6000-7500 miles. The reason for this, is because most manufacturer's warranties does not make any provisions for synthetic oil. If you had a majoir engine failure you would be able to prove you followed the recommended oil change intervals.



If you go beyond the recommended oilc change interval, the manufacturer could say it was your fault. The fact that no mention of sythentic oil in the warranty would indicate that it makes no difference if you use synthetic oil, you are required to change it at the recommended intervals.



After the warranty, then you can change the oil whenever you like.

MY ST's warranty expired last January so no worry there. Guess I'll try 7000 the first time and then see how it looks. Can't see going any less between changes. Bought the RP to save time and money. ( Got 2 cases for $2.70 quart).

Was a pain in the butt to remember every 3 or 4k - had to keep looking at my notes to remember when the last change was. Now it's REALLY easy.

I didn't think an FL1-A fit our V6. I use the FL820S as per the owner's manual, and Mobil 1 every 5K miles.

Ok don't wanna get boo'd off here. I ended up buying a Mercedes instead of a new ST-one of those things that sorta started out "just looking" and ended up driving home in it. They come from the factory with Mobile One synthetic oil and service is due every yr or 12000 miles. According to the service man-under free maintenence they will not do it more often than that-and that it is not needed more than that. He actually said you could go longer than 15,000 miles if you wanted-but 12000 is the recomended. I checked on an owners group and this seems to be pretty much the norm every 12000 mi.:huh:
