I own a 2001 Sport Trac with 107,000 miles on it. I started experiencing trouble starting vehicle and it continue to run. It most often occurs on cold mornings and also if it has been "sitting" for a few hours. The RPMs was always over 1000 until the trouble started. Now it idles (enen in traffic) at 400-500 with the engine acting like it wants to quit. I changed spark plugs and have purchased a new fuel filter and PVC valve (the guy who is doing my engine work said to get one so I really don't know what this valve is or where it is located and actually what it is for.) The guy does work for most of his buddies and is considered good, so not really worried about a s---w job. So the question I am needing an answer for is will the fuel filter take care of this problem of idling or is there a idle valve I still need to get? I'm on fixed income so no can't afford a new one yet!
