After reading another post that degraded to, basically nothing, I will respond why I will do something or anything to my ST after I get it.

I do stuff to my ST --- Just to make it mine. As simple as, I don't know, put a simple magnetic flag on my tailgate - end of my mechanical ability.

IT's MINE and no one elses'

Terry

Whatever makes you happy. There's a lot of people that I think go overboard with their ST, but hey, it's their money. Everything I have done has been mostly just for me and not for looks. There are some things you can definitely do to improve the handling of the Trac but if your happy with what you got then save your money for something else. I know several people with Tracs that I have told about this site and they just are not interested in it or doing anything to their Trac. Some people only look at a vehicle for getting from point A to point B and nothing else. I understand that and don't have a problem with it. Really, the Trac is the first vehicle I have ever owned (and I've owned many) that I have spent money on mods. I blame Rich and this damn site for that. :D

I come from a history of car modifying, and to me, it's not really "mine" until something is done to it. I typically chose to take the more extreme route of customizing then most, but that makes what I drive even more different.

This weekend I finished two projects to the truck that makes mine even more different. Many would call both impractical, as I started with a truck with 5 seats, now it's got two; or unsafe, I removed the 3rd brake light, but I'm not afraid to take that extra step to get that extra style or uniqueness.

LOL Tom --

I agree this site makes me spend, wisely, money.

I have scangauge and xcal2. Both because I came here to see what others say. WHAT A SITE !!!! Thanks to all that give and give and to the others that ask.

Those people that put down people for what they do are ignorant. Q thinks a Subaru is impressive. I just laugh. I have never been impressed with a Subaru and doubt I ever will. It is a Subaru for crying out loud.

Sticking an FX4 sticker on the bed does not make it an FX4 package. It is no different then having a Honda Civic with a Type R sticker on the back. The only Civic Type R made, that I know of was in Japan. None ever made it into Honda showrooms to be sold for the streets.

With that being said, you make your vehicle what you want it to be. If you want to remove the springs and let it lay on the frame, go for it. If you want to lift it so high you will need a step ladder to get in it, it is all you.

Personally, I would not consider lowering my Trac because I use it as a truck. Lowering it won't work for me. I lifted my Trac. Not by much, maybe an inch or so. I wanted a little stiffer ride. The TT lift in the front was perfect. To lift the rear of my Trac, I just add air to the airbags. I also think if you want to lower your Trac, it is yours to do so. You are the one driving it.

Make your vehicle your own. Tie a ribbon to your antenna, put a magnet on the tailgate, buy wheels for it, leave it stock, or do something else to it.

The choice is up to you, not anyone else.

That's the point Tiger and Tom any thing different than stock, anything no matter the cost large or small or mod, makes it MINE !!!

I did not start this thread to answer others responses to others post. You are right. You raise yours - others lower.

Is it not great, at this site, we can see others mods and like it or not.

Bottom line -- IT MAKES IT MINE !

Terry

I wish I could do what others have done  or maybe not :) I know my ability ( or underestimate it ).

It is human nature to have something a little different and personalized. Even if its a bumper sticker, its different than the next guy's. Some like "bling" and some like "blong". If everyone's tastes were the same cars would only come in one color.

Well said. And the first time I think someone's argument was that unless you do something totally original or make something by hand, then it's not worth bragging about.

It may not be true for everyone, but I worked hard to buy my ST and for every 'mod' thus far. So when I go out and buy an aftermarket exhaust for example, I know that even though I didn't make it myself or install it myself, I still worked hard to get it.

And you resort to name calling my friend? Perhaps the caveman looks at you in the mirror?

If you keep this up you will all get a "U" in "works and plays well with others". Now lets have our cookies and milk , settle down and take a nice nap.:)

Tom,

I don't always agree with you (but you know I sometimes do). However, I must disagree here. My folks have had 5 or 6 Subarus, and none have ever had the problems my Trac has had. I wouldn't trade the Trac for anything, but when it comes to no hassle, well-built vehicles, Subaru has a decently good product.

My mother recently purchased an '05 Legacy Ltd GT (with thanks to a member on here who sponsored her for the VIP program). The refinements, solidity, and looks of the new Legacies are lightyears beyond where the line started. The turbo is a lot of fun, and the AWD makes the car great for PA in any weather. And, in comparing the midsize to anything Ford, Chevrolet, VW, Honda, etc. has, none compare. You pay a little more for a Suby, but it is worth it in the end.

Of course, I'll take your comment with a grain of salt. You still think Ford's Escort was one of their greatest vehicles. (Note the playful tone here - I'm not looking to box.)

AdamCKach,

I never said Subaru was junk. I simply said it is a Subaru. It is not a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or even a Lotus. Ultimatly you got the point I was trying to convey. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

i cant believe seasoned members of this site are even having this debate about people mods. We all have different tastes in what we do to the trac and I thought it was sort of a unspoken known that you dont bash other people mods. What is the big deal about putting an FX4 sticker on a trac? If that is what the owner wants, whats the big deal? It isnt hurting anybody or anything........

I thought people had more respect for each others tastes on this site, thats all. :(

Fmarano, who asked you??. You always pipe in with your cynical comments.................

I though I could start another battle. Actually your comments and advice has always been level headed and usually accurate. Have a geat holiday to you and all the members here. Even the "grumps" :):):):):):):):)

Frank,

The original issue started with a member saying lowering a truck was stupid. I was just commenting that the same person that called that stupid was the same person to put FX4 stickers on something that was not ment to have FX4 bstickers, much the same as that same person said trucks should not be lowered.
