My costs though AT&T Mobility are the same today as they were when I bought my phone from them one year ago. Verizon is charging you a much higher rate for your plan to make up for the $29 they charged you for your Blackberry. They are going to get their money for the phone one way or the other as do all Cell phone companies...That's why it's so important to look at their plans and charges very carefully to find out just what each plan is costing you over the length of the contract.
A couple of months before I bought my BlackBerry I had bought a Samsung Calber touch-screen phone, (similar to the iPhone) with a company called Metro-PCS. They only charged $50 per month (including all taxes and fees) for unlimited calls, unlimited data, and unlimited texing on a month to month basis with no contract. The problem with MetroPCS is they don't have a very good signal where I live and my calls were constantly getting dropped:angry:. It worked great when I was at work in a large metal building where most other cell phones got poor signals or no signals...which was amazing. At our other Administrative Office in Bryan, TX we had to install an outdoor repeater antenea so that people working inside the building could get a reliable cellular signal to use their phones.
So Verizon may have been a better choice for you based on better coverage in your area, (and having the phone without the camera that you needed). All the Cellular companies offer different plans and charge different prices in different marketing areas...So you may not have gotten Ripped off, and I know I didn't get Ripped off either but I would have never signed up for your plan.
