Mike, it is a fact of life, that either Obama or McCain will win. Pick your island carefully. Some of them are American territories. Some are British, and taxes will kill you. The Dutch ones will be the same. Of course, Cuba is completely off-limits to Americans. It doesn't leave much other than some totally impoverished places to go. Good luck!

Of course, Cuba is completely off-limits to Americans.

No it isn't. It is illegal for an American to SPEND his personal money in Cuba. If a fellow Canadian member wanted to finance a trip to Cuba, I am allowed.

If someone is ex-patrioting America, why would they care about American laws?

Tom

I provided a link which describes who can travel to Cuba. The web address not linked has instructions on how to renounce US citizenship. I wouldn't advise it, since it will really mess up your life, and a presidential term is only four years, and no President will really have much of an impact on a sole person's quality of life. It is an irreversible step.

WOW!

Alot happens when one is off this site for 24 hours!

I am hurt, I've been called a name.....

And my family is very well, Thank You. My family and I can weather a storm, as I am in control of my own destiny, as long as this country remains a free democracy. I don't expect the government to give me employment, health care, shelter, unemployment compensation, food, etc. I do expect the government to provide some level of security (high National security), infrastructure and things basically necessary to civilized, social life. The problem, as I see it, is we have things backwards to a significant extent. All the "giveaways" so politicians can retain their political careers, while infrastructure is falling apart.

I agree with many, as I am not satisified with the candidates, period.

IMO, Reagan was the last time we got what we voted for, at least in my 30+ years of voting in presidential elections.

And yes, I hold the Constitution, its amendments and the Bill of Rights near and dear. That's what makes us America.

And thanks for permitting me to voice my opinion.

I think this site should be treated like a bar. In a bar, you don't discuss politics, race, or religion. There are simply too many polarizing opinions and everyone's right. Just ask them.

Lol people. I wouldn't even be able to think about leaving the US let alone be able to get 50 gallons of oil for my house. You still have to love this country, though. I believe in it and those who fought and died for it. Terrible management though...kinda like my job.

I'm not going to be like Sharon Stone or Alec Baldwin and say "if Obama wins, I'm moving". Far from it. This is still America. I will stand up, write my senators and representatives even more than I do now, I will call the White House and tell them what I think (as all Americans should). I will do what is necessary for the Citizens of the United States of America to maintain the way of life, and the personal liberty and freedoms we've had since the founding of this great nation more than 200 years ago.

Many of you have seen me defend and disagree with the current administration. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, no matter who is president. I support one man at 65%, the other at about 5%. Invert that and you'll see how much I'll be criticizing the new administration.\

Maybe we'll all be surprised by the time November comes along and the likes of Bob Barr (L) or some of the other 3rd party candidates will be leading. We can only hope as the two boobs that are current presumptive nominees are about worthless.
