OK, I have a little more information on my power door lock problem. To rehash these are the following symptoms. The fuse on the driver's side in slot 18 blew, and its a 25A fuse. Replaced it, and unlocked the doors again and it blew. I put in a 30A fuse to only help me track down the location of an odd noise when the unlock button is pressed. There is a different clicking noise that originates behind the passenger side air bag, and seems to be under the black panel of the dash where it meets the bottom of the windsheild. All the doors look with the press of any button. Its almost as if a relay is shorted out, if that is possible.

Does anyone have a shop manual that might be able to help me access this part and check it out? Also, does anyone have a procedure for removing the passenger side air bag and removeing the black panel that is on top of the dash near the bottom of the windsheild? Thanks.

Thanks Tom,

That is perfect. I appreciate the heads up on the site. Now I am having a tough time getting contact with the tracker. This is my first time using Torrents.

If anyone has a general idea what is going on with my locks or if they can answer any of the other questions I have, please post. I am still interested in other angles.

OK,

Problem solved. I removed the passenger side air bag and located the odd sound of a defective relay. its a relay alright, the ones in the PATS module.

Can I just get a PATS module from another explorer, say at a junk yard and swap it out? I know there will be programming involved and I will do a search for those details. If everything works out, I will write this one up.
