BRIGHT EYES LYRICS

"First Day Of My Life"

This is the first day of my life

I swear I was born right in the doorway

I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed

They're spreading blankets on the beach

Yours is the first face that I saw

I think I was blind before I met you

Now I don’t know where I am

I don’t know where I’ve been

But I know where I want to go

And so I thought I’d let you know

That these things take forever

I especially am slow

But I realize that I need you

And I wondered if I could come home

Remember the time you drove all night

Just to meet me in the morning

And I thought it was strange you said everything changed

You felt as if you had just woke up

And you said “this is the first day of my life

I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you

But now I don’t care I could go anywhere with you

And I’d probably be happy”

So if you want to be with me

With these things there’s no telling

We just have to wait and see

But I’d rather be working for a paycheck

Than waiting to win the lottery

Besides maybe this time is different

I mean I really think you like me

It's kind of a getting back song but it's really nice nonetheless.

Whatever, she'll melt bro. ;)

My first choice was Wham's last christmas, and then I thought of AC/DC's Big Balls. I'm glad I wasn't alone, although I chose the more guitariffic Enter Sandman.

However, how about Broken, by Seether? It would sound awesome acoustic, and although the lyrics are somewhat mixed, they're pretty hard hitting if the two of you can't stand being apart.

What is the reason for the song?

If you are serious and want to marry her, a great song would be "'till death do us part" by White Lion.

As we talk the golden mile

Down the pretty aisle

I know that you are mine

And there's nothing in this world

That I know that I won't do

To be near you everyday

Every hour every minute

Take my hand and let me lead the way

All thru your life

I'll be by your side

Till death do us part

I'll be your friend

My love will never end

Till death do us part

When I wake up everyday

With you lying in my arms

I wonder if I'm dreaming

When I look into your eyes

I just can't believe it's true

That my heart belongs to you

Baby you can have it all

Take my hand and let me lead the way

All thru your life

I'll be by your side

Till death do us part

I'll be your friend

My love will never end

Till death do us part

There'll be good times

And there'll be bad

But I will stand beside you woman

All the way

And thru the years

As life goes on

When snow will fall on winter nights

I'll keep you warm inside

Yeah baby I will

All thru your life

I'll be by your side

Till death do us part

I'll be your friend

My love will never end

Till death do us part

Another one for the same situation is "My last name" by Dierks Bentley.

I learned how to write it, when I first started school

Some bully didn't like it, said it didn't sound too cool

So I had to hit him, and all I said when the blood came

It's my last name

Grandpa took it off to Europe, to fight the Germans in the war

It came back on some dog tags, nobody wears no more

It's written on a headstone, in the field where he was slain

It's my last name

Passed down from generations, too far back to trace

I can see all my relations, when I look into my face

May never make it famous, but I'll never bring it shame

It's my last name

Daddy always told me, far back as I recall

Son you're part of something, you represent us all

So keep it how you got it, as solid as it came

It's my last name

Repeat Chorus

So darlin if you're wonderin, why I've got you here tonight

I wanna be your husband, I want you to be my wife

Ain't got much to give you, but what I've got means everything

It's my last name

I learned how to write it, when I first started school

If I know more about the situation, I can give you better suggestions.
