Question, looking for a 2010, ST XLT, 4.0L aluminum radiator? Is going to an aluminum radiator worth the extra money? Any suggestion where to source? Thanks RT Behm
Roughly ~$100 cost difference in parts:
OEMStyle 1Core\2CorePlasticTanked Radiator vs. an upgraded 3Core\4CoreAllAluminum Radiator.
Upgrade recommended if towing anything heavier than lite Boat\Utility Trailer or in hot\hilly\mountain region.
I live in a cooler mtn area, but make trailer runs to hot Vegas\AZ\KS\TX\FL, so 4CoreAllAluminum is my choice.
RockAuto\Amazon\Ebay to start looking & shopping price; google "2010 sport trac 4.0L radiator".
Local PartsHouse can likely order what you want at a premium price, if that gives you a warm fuzzy.

Had a little squeak going on; the belt is old. Tensioner was the culprit to the noise...So changed everything out. Purchased a Dayco belt kit from rockauto and installed with the quickness, nice smooth routine maintenance.

My gas gauge has been intermittent, and fuel pressure sensor codes continually popping up, So I replaced the lift pump, filter and pressure sensor. What came out of the filter looked pretty dark, so I'm thinking I did a good thing.
Any details of the parts & ptocess?

Over the past week changed oil and filter on my 2002 - then drove it with the family from the north bay area to just south of the Canadian border in Washington state for Thanksgiving - put roughly 2200 miles on it - ran great - averaged about 18 mpg - mostly freeway miles with cruise control set at 77 - very comfortable

Used SportTrac TailGate as workbench to rebuild my AirCompressor;
was leaking a lot of air; needed a new gasket (cut from cardstock) & a little RTV
on all the air connections; now good to go for another ~10yrs.

my single favorite thing to do in my Sport Trac, is to sit on the tailgate after fish/hike/backpack/hunt, and drink a beer looking out over the mountains.. tailgates are great.

Gear pick of the year - the tailgate

I feel pretty stupid but I finally figured out how to disable the automatic locking function on the doors - seems to have worked but we will see - hope to keep family members from breaking the plastic door handles!

Swapped out my old Phillips headlight bulbs with a set of LED bulbs. Huge difference. Now I just need to find a flat place to aim them.

Swapped out my Headlights Today.

Though this year I've done more for my 2005 than the previous 14 years combined. Replaced the lower ball joints and sway bar links, new radiator and coolant flush, transmission filter and fluid, new plugs and wires, heater control valve (broken changing plugs,) and swapped bag console for a Deluxe Console with heat/air ($13 at salvage,) added a bed extender (also $13 at salvage.)

your changes look great - I especially like the console - going to start looking for one at the local pick and pull - the wierd cheap stock one in my 2002 broke once again today - going to try to rig it up again but seeing how great that looks gives me inspiration

I think I found this one in a 2002 Explorer. Much better than the old one. More room in the compartment, better cupholders, spot for phone where I added a USB port for Android Auto/Carplay, and a 12v port on the side.
Bought a new lid for $40 on ebay.

Angie:

Do tell. I only recently got my Sport Trac, and already I'm thinking there is so much automatic door-locking every day that it's going to wear out mechanisms prematurely. It's just not necessary. Okay, so how do you disable it?
