I was able to burn the 2001 Truck ISO and it works!

Programs...

WinRAR from RARsoft. If you are using Winzip, get rid of it. It sucks. WinRAR blows it away. WinRAR will open just about any type of file there is.

Nero Burning ROM

Here is what I did. I unziped the .zip file. I then did the same thing with the iso. On my HDD I had the files. I then created a data disk with all the files in that folder I unziped from the .iso. Now, I went into Nero and made a data disk. The label I used is 01TRK11. Burn the CD and install.

It works like a charm. The first time I burned the CD, I used the label they said *might* be 01TRK08. It gave me an error saying I needed the 2001-2002 Truck CD-ROM Revision 11. So, that tells me the label will need to have 11 in it. I figured the label is as follows..

01 (year) TRK (Truck CD-ROM) 08 (revision 08), so I replace the 08 with 11. So, the CD is labeled 01 (year) TRK (Truck CD-ROM) 11 (revision 11) or simply put "01TRK11".

It works.

You guys are amateurs.

I am now going to try the 1993-1994 Car Disk. I will let you know if it was a success in the morning.

Time for bed.

Well I got the 2001 truck CD working, I just didn't know how to select the Sport Trac. So it never not worked, it was just user error.

I had previously bought the EBay CD for a 2001. I have a job 2 and things like the spark plug gap are listed incorrectly (engine bay says .052 - .056, CD said .061 - .068).

I DL'd the 2002 repair CD for my 2001 Job 2 in the hopes that it had updated information. But it is the same info as in the 2001 CD.

Oh well. Just a reminder that the service techs may use this info and set the wrong gap.

When I changed plugs at 45K, I found the factory ones set at .070 or better. I installed the new ones according to the service sticker under the hood, and set them at .054... ran much smoother.

I did the same with the 1993-1994 car CD-ROM, but used the label they said to use.

It works.

Caymen's advice worked perfect. Had to rename my 02's volume label to read "02TRK02". Works perfectly. I think this is the same one I bought off ebay a year or so ago.

quick, sell the stock in CD mfr's.... using Tom's suggestion, I used winrar on the iso, copied the files to my HD, then I used the burner loaded with XP to burn the CD and label it correctly. Works great, I din't make anymore coasters.

Thanks Caymen for the suggestion.

Glad to know I was able to help.

WinRAR is a program I used to hate. I was a big WinZIP fan. Then I got the learn all the really cool things it can do. The same goes for Adaptec, now Roxio, EZ-CD Creator. I used to love that program and I hated Nero. Roxio completely destroyed EZ-CD Creator. Too baloted with crap you don't need. Looks like Nero is starting to go that route though. Maybe I will need to start looking for a new burning program.

Love and hate "programs"? Hate one for a while until you learn its capabilities, then begin to love it?

Now, Caymen you can see why I asked in another thread if emotion and not value/function may be clouding your opinion on matters of preference.

As Spock said: Be wary of your emotions. They will be your undoing.

Enjoy the CDs.

Oh, and yes, Roxio drove EZ-CD into the ground, but I still like the DirectCD feature that it brings.

I don't prefer the native WinXP CD burning support...still can't figure out how to add to a CD that I have burned (if even able...but I don't use XP that much so I haven't really invested in any research).

TJR,

I am not even going to respond to your post. I won't give you that pleasure.
