    2015 FORD Mustang...yuk!

It took me a while to warm up to the "New Edge" styling of my 2000 Mustang, and now I think it's the best looking Mustang since Larry Shinoda was in charge of design for the Mustang. IMO the "new retro" looks missed the mark, and going back to a solid axle was really tone deaf on Ford's part...

Interview: Obama Had Marxist Vision For US At Occidental College

If you believe anything you read on the Internet, you're a fool. I tried to find any credentials for freedomoutpost.com and found none. This isn't a news site. Remember that freedom of speech also protects lies as well.

    Optima Battery

Ditto for DieHard! I have a pair of PM-1 deep cycle batteries that I use with an inverter when the power goes out, or when I'm somewhere where there's no AC outlet handy. They also give me a combined 2300CCA, which can jump start most anything. No offense to Optima owners, but the latest...

    Tires rotated, small issue...

FWIW I've had great results with Michelin X-Ice snow and ice tires (they have the mountain and snowflake logo) on other cars, and just noticed that they're now available for my ST (235R18). I can't really justify them here in southern Wisconsin because the 4x4 does well enough. But up where...

    Tires rotated, small issue...

I'm with Jerry too. I get an alignment once a year and more often than not a minor adjustment is needed. With unidirectional tires and alloy rims, most places aren't going to do a cross pattern tire rotation because it's a lot of work.

    Door lock problem

Maybe metal fatigue has taken its toll on one or more wires in the bundle that goes to the door. A continuity test with the door open and closed should confirm this theory...or not as the case may be.

FYI, about Ford escape Auto Transmissions

KL, with all due respect, if you can't control a car on anything but a perfect road, there's something lacking in your driving skills. Sorry, but the myth of FWD superiority is no substitute for knowing how to drive. Motor vehicles have the power to kill, and training should take that into...

Econoline Van: Ford ends it's life 2013

That's a mighty bigoted article. New and different doesn't always equal better. Well, maybe to mindless fanbois... I'll miss the good old-style van that all of the Big Three have been making for as long as I've been alive. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The fact that Chrysler's 'new...

    What New Cars Really Cost

Giving depreciation so much priority fails to take into account a lot of things. What if the car gets in a collision? That will affect the car's resale value big time! What if an economic downturn comes, and you keep your car until it drops? What if you always keep your cars until...

FYI, about Ford escape Auto Transmissions

Front wheel drive cars are only good for the auto makers and dealers. They're cheap to make that way, but really expensive to repair. The #1 reason why I'm a (manual transmission) Mustang guy is because the Mustang is RWD, and if something needs to be fixed, it can be done far more easily...

    Cost of collision repairs...unreal

These days $1000 is pretty much the minimum charge for collision damage. It's just not worth the effort for good body shops, so they jack up the prices of small jobs unless you're a good customer. ;) Unless you get a lot of custom work done, you don't want to be on a first name basis with the...

    Exterior Lighting - Multiple Questions

Thanks Mark. I found out about the perils of switching to LED turn signals from another Explorer site. Looks like the computers will make that part fun :-/ Both headlight assemblies are still good; the cracks are only cosmetic right now. I've never seen anything quite like it. There are...

    Exterior Lighting - Multiple Questions

I'm finally getting around to installing improved exterior lights on my 2007 ST, and could use some help from fellow ST drivers. First off, I'm putting in replacement LED lights for the 4157 bulbs front and back. The manual shows how to remove the front housing, which is pretty obvious...

    Hid Kit 35W OR 55W

FWIW, my research in energy saving lighting shows that HID lights are the most efficient form of lighting, even better than LEDs. So a 35W HID lamp is equivalent to a 100W regular halogen bulb. That's way too much for on-road use, except as a high beam. Even then you'll need to remember to...

    Antenna Change

You have three basic kinds of "car radio" antenna these days. One is to pick up terrestrial broadcasts from the AM/MW (~1MHz) and FM/VHF (~100MHz) broadcast bands. The next is to pick up satellite signals for GPS navigation and/or Sirius/XM radio services. Finally there's the cellular antenna...

It could be a loose piece of trim or some other doodad in the front clip.

    re U-Haul !!!

    1. Firestone is a subsidiary of Bridgestone, a Japanese corporation. 2. It was the failure of wrongly made OEM Firestone brand tires that caused the Ford Explorer rollover problem. 3. This problem was tread separation at highway speeds, and was completely related to other SUV...

Gotta put my mechanic hat on again.

How's the steering? That can cause vibrations too.

Just got into my first fender bender. What do I do?

Try driving in Chicago, or any mob-controlled area, TJR. The mob makes the rules, the cops work for the mob and you get your name plastered all over the FBI's NCIC computer system if you don't grease the wheels of "justice" the way they want you to. The thing about NCIC is that it never...
